About Us

The Arizona Competitive Power Alliance is a trade association comprised of Independent Power Producers whose mission is to promote competitive wholesale electric markets as a means of providing reliable, affordable and clean energy for Arizona consumers.  The AZCPA provides a forum for public and private sector professionals to work together in order to transform Arizona’s energy landscape.

Greg Patterson, Director

Greg Patterson has been the Director of the Arizona Competitive Power Alliance since it was founded in 2001. Greg is an attorney and CPA. Prior to his tenure as AZCPA Director, Greg served as the Director of the Arizona Residential Utility Consumer Office and Chief of Staff at the Arizona State Senate. Greg also served two terms in the Arizona House of Representatives where he chaired the Government Operations Committee and later the Banking and Insurance Committee.  During his tenure as AZCPA Director, Greg was elected to a four-year term on the Maricopa County Hospital Board of Directors.  In 2012 Governor Brewer appointed Greg as a member of the Arizona Board of Regents.  He was confirmed by the State Senate and served for 5 years.  The last year as Chairman of the Board. 

Greg is also the Director of the New Mexico Independent Power Producers (put NMIPP link here) .  He is an Attorney in New Mexico as well as Arizona.
